beautiful evening... (pm.19.sep.11)>

we are in the midst of a stunningly beautiful evening... after our fizzling monsoon stirred up a couple of late afternoon showers (with a little thunder) that produced 0.25" (0.6cm) of rain at the top of town on tushita road.  i recorded a high temp of 73.4F (23C).

we've been from one extreme to the other today, with generally sunny skies during the morning yielding to a period of clouds and fog, along with those showers during the mid- to late afternoon hours... then rapidly back to sunshine again.  all in all, pretty typical for the waning days of monsoon season.  the trend we've seen during the last two or three days will continue as the week progresses.  monsoon 2011 is in retreat, and we will likely see an increasing amount of sunshine, gradually lower average humidity readings during the day, and  smaller and smaller chances of significant rainfall.

i'm going to remove rain chances from the forecast altogether starting on thursday...  time will tell how foolhardy that is, but i really do think by the end of the week, we might be able to haul out the rugs and carpets for airing, catch up on laundry (without worrying about leaving it hanging out), and maybe even consider leaving the umbrellas at home. (?)
