early morning low temp: 65.7F (18.7C)
24-hour rainfall as of 6:30am: 1.90" (4.8cm)
we have mostly clear skies just before sunrise this morning, with a humidity reading of 81%. but like yesterday, the sunshine won't last for long. although intense full-on monsoon conditions have waned a bit since august, there is no indication that the overall weather pattern is undergoing its shift into post-monsoon characteristics.. yet. there is still a deep fetch of tropical moisture being pumped into northern india, and that moisture will continue to ring itself out in the form of occasional heavy rain showers (along with some thunder and lightning), mainly during the afternoon hours, along the front ranges of the mountains.
the average date for monsoon withdrawal across himachal pradesh is right around the 15th-17th of september... but records indicate the official withdrawal has occurred at least several days later than that during each of the past 5 years. i'll assemble and post some of that specific data within the next few days.
