we've managed to make it into the evening with only a few sprinkles (thus far). there has been plenty of cloudiness and fog around, with only a few brief periods of sunshine... but rain has had a hard time developing today. satellite pics show isolated showers along the himalayan chains, from northern pakistan all the way into nepal, but they've mostly avoided us. i've recorded just 0.02" (less than 1mm) of rain today, with a high temp of 75.7F (24.3C).
outdoor humidity has been hovering in the 92-99% range all day, as evidenced by the persistent fog... indicating that the atmosphere is still chock-full of tropical moisture. it is just a matter of time before we get another round of moderate to heavy showers. in fact, it appears that the rain potential will be steadily on the rise throughout the remainder of the week.
finally, something more interesting is on the horizon... the first "western disturbance" of the season is starting to show up on the computer models, possibly moving through here over the weekend. if that is the case, after its passage, we could see the deep monsoon moisture swept south and east of us for the first time. stay tuned during the next several days to see how this evolves...
