we have partly cloudy skies with patchy thick fog across the area this evening. today's high temp reached 72.5F (22.5C), and there has been no measurable rain (just a few drops during the mid-morning) thus far. outdoor humidity has been creeping up all day... from near 80% early this morning, to 93% late this afternoon.
we've now had about 30 hours without significant rainfall... but the next round of tropical downpours won't be too far away. there is absolutely no change expected in our surface or upper-air weather patterns during the next week (at least), so be prepared for more of this cloudy, humid, foggy, occasionally rainy weather, punctuated by welcome (but brief) peeks of sunshine. it still looks like we are in line for a rather strong surge of tropical moisture during the latter half of this week, which could deliver a couple of rounds of very heavy rains... most likely from late wednesday through friday. keep in mind that it is not abnormal to get a 5" (12cm)+ deluge during the first two or three weeks of september.
this afternoon i took a peek at some extended computer model guidance... which is showing no significant retreat of monsoon conditions all the way through the 18th of the month. we shall see!!
MONDAY NIGHT: partly cloudy skies, with a chance of rain developing.
low: 18C (65F)
TUESDAY: a mix of clouds, fog, and a few peeks of sun. a period or two of rain likely.
high: 23C (73F)
WEDNESDAY: mostly cloudy, with periods of fog and rain.
high: 22C (72F)
THURSDAY: clouds and fog, with periods of heavy rain likely.
high: 22C (71F)
FRIDAY: more clouds, fog, and periods of rain.
high: 22C (72F)
SATURDAY: partly to mostly cloudy. occasional fog and rain.
