there are just a few small breaks in the clouds this evening, but we did have more sunshine today than we've seen so far during this transition out of the monsoon season. our high temp around mid-day was 72.9F (23.3C), and it's now four days in a row without any rain in the immediate area.
isolated showers and a few rumbles of thunder are still happening in the mountains from kashmir and himachal into uttar anchal during the mid- to late PM hours, and that makes me wonder if the official monsoon withdrawal will be declared for us in the next couple of days... or not. the tedious and unusually slow trend of moisture departure continues, and overall, there has been noticeable improvement during the past week, but it remains to be seen how long this stubborn low-level moisture will hang in. the murky conditions seem to be the most pronounced in the evenings (like right now), but then quickly dissipate right after sunset. like clockwork.
all i know is that my laundry is drying quite nicely now, the doors fit into the doorjambs once again (just in the last 3-4 days), and the ferns are now clearly yellow, and dying. those kinds of signs are irreversible...
