today's high temp: 68.2F (20.1C) around 10:30am
today's low temp: 59.9F (15.5C) around 3:30pm
rainfall this afternoon: 0.63" (1.6cm) between 2:00 and 4:15pm
**RAINFALL SINCE SUNDAY: 4.42" (11.2cm)**
we're enjoying some evening sunshine for the second day in a row, but we also had to endure the third round of afternoon thundershowers in the past four days. current satellite photos show that most of that action is fizzling out with the setting sun, but it appears that there were scattered showers with thunder and even a bit of hail from parts of kashmir through himachal and uttarakhand, as has been the case every afternoon this week.
here on the last day of the month, i can honestly say that this has been about the most rebellious and disobedient latter half of september that i can ever remember! although we had four dry days in a row late last week, we've never been able to completely rid ourselves of the fog and cloudiness during the mid-day and PM hours, and humidity remains higher than it normally is by this time of year, generally 60-85% range.
although officially, technically and practically, the monsoon is long gone, the lingering moisture here in the foothills and mountains is now being capitalized on by an upper-level pattern that is looking more and more like autumn. we just haven't been able to catch a break this year... and there are no signs of a significant lasting change as we get into the first week of october.
FRIDAY NIGHT: a lingering thundershower possible during the evening, otherwise becoming mostly clear.
low: 16C (60F)
SATURDAY: partly sunny skies. another round of afternoon thundershowers possible.
high: 21C (70F)
SUNDAY: a mix of sun and clouds, with a risk of a thundershower in the PM.
high: 21C (70F)
MONDAY: more of the same mix of clouds and sun. chance of a PM shower remains.
high: 22C (71F)
TUESDAY: partly cloudy. chance of an afternoon shower.
high: 21C (70F)
WEDNESDAY: partly cloudy skies with an isolated afternoon shower possible.
