perfection... 100% clear skies and a pre-sunrise temp of 65.6F (18.7C) to start the day. no thunderstorms popped up anywhere in himachal overnight, and current satellite pics show only a little action well to our north in northern pakistan and kashmir.
sunshine will be abundant much of today, and that will allow the heat to build rapidly this morning. but once again, the heat at the lower elevations doesn't get along well with the colder temperatures over the mountains high into the atmosphere. we'll have to watch for that instability to cook up a thunderstorm or two by the middle of the afternoon. i think the best chances of thunderstorms will come tomorrow into friday, as a weak disturbance moves through, further stirring up a volatile atmosphere. very normal for the middle of may, but just keep it in mind if you're going to be in the mountains away from shelter.
the wamest temps of the season are upon us... and we'll be flirting with 30C/86F even in mcleod ganj during the next week or so. just down the hill in dharamsala 35C/95F is in the bag. this is the time of year when a thunderstorm is a nice break, as it cools things down a bit...
