there are lots of leftover high, thin clouds around the area before sunrise this morning, with a current temp of 68.4F (20.2C). i recorded a low temp of 62.2F (16.8C), in the midst of a thundershower that delivered 0.08" (2mm) of rainfall during the wee hours of the morning. a massive area of showers and thunderstorms moved across northern india overnight, giving at least some rain to just about all of punjab, himachal, harayana, uttar anchal and even the delhi metro area. it looks like the heaviest rain fell (more than 0.40"/1cm) across much of punjab, northern haryana and the southern part of himachal. chandigarh is just now reporting 1.5cm (0.60").
is there more on the way? the upper-level disturbance responsible for the off-and-on showers and storms we've been dodging since friday will remain in the area through this evening, keeping things unsettled for another 12-18 hours or so. already there are new thunderstorms erupting in east-central pakistan, just to the west of amritsar, which could be an indication of what we can expect as the day goes on. so far, here in mcleod, we've only received 0.32" (8mm) of rain since noon friday, so it would be nice if we could double that.
by monday, the atmosphere should settle down, as high pressure attempts to re-establish itself from the surface into the upper-levels... that should effectively diminish our rain chances for a few days, and allow temperatures to rebound from these pleasantly mild conditions we're enjoying now.
SUNDAY: mostly sunny early AM, then increasing clouds with a few showers and thunderstorms. pleasantly cool temps.
high: 25C (77F)
SUNDAY NIGHT: risk of a few showers and storms, mainly before midnight. otherwise partly cloudy.
low: 18C (64F)
MONDAY: just a slight chance of a lingering shower, otherwise becoming mostly sunny.
high: 27C (80F)
TUESDAY: lots of sunshine... warming up again.
high: 28C (83F)
WEDNESDAY: mostly sunny and warm, with an isolated PM thundershower possible.
high: 29C (84F)
THURSDAY: partly to mostly sunny. chance of a thundershower or two.
high: 29C (85F)
