there are still a lot of clouds around before sunset this evening, but most of the thundershower activity appears to have either moved out or dissipated. thunder started rumbling over the dhauladars very early today... around 12:30pm... and continued on and off and on and off until around 4:30pm. in my rain gauge on tushita road just below the mountaineering center i measured only 0.11" (3mm), just about all of that happened between 3:30 and 4:00pm. the high temp was 79.2F (26.2C).
despite the lack of any significant disturbance or storm system in the area, mountain thundershowers obviously had no trouble getting going this afternoon. i haven't heard about any significant rainfall amounts, but the dark clouds and thunder surely kept everyone on their toes throughout the afternoon hours. the only thing that will change during the next couple of days will be a continuing gradual rise in temperatures... so the afternoon instability will remain, keeping the chance of rumbling thunder and a few showers in the forecast.
a more substantial, organized upper-level disturbance is on the way for wednesday and thursday... and that is going to increase our chances of a round or two of strong storms with significant rainfall. as the month of june arrives, increasing amounts of moisture come with it, so the temperature and humidity combination will make it feel less comfortable than during the drier days of early and mid may...
SUNDAY NIGHT: diminishing risk of a brief thundershower this evening... then becoming partly cloudy overnight.
low: 21C (70F)
MONDAY: partly sunny and warmer. a thundershower possible in the PM.
high: 28C (82F)
TUESDAY: a mix of sun and clouds. warm, with a period of afternoon thundershowers possible.
high: 29C (84F)
WEDNESDAY: good chance of some showers and thunderstorms, otherwise partly cloudy.
high: 28C (82F)
THURSDAY: partly to mostly cloudy with a period or two of showers and thunderstorms.
high: 27C (80F)
FRIDAY: partly cloudy and pleasant. just a slight chance of a thundershower.
high: 26C (78F)
