beach weather... (pm.9.may.11)>

an unusual and spectacular event is occurring... we have totally clear skies just before sunset this evening.  other than some big cumulus development over the mountain peaks during the middle of the afternoon, there was tons of sun today.  the high temp was 82.2F (27.9C).

the satellite view this evening shows a scattering of thundershowers along the higher peaks of the himalayan front ranges... as is quite typical for this time of year with hot air on the plains bumping into the cooler air hovering in the mountain altitudes.  there are also a few little disturbances aloft which will likely intensify just a bit as we head through the rest of the week, giving us about a 20-30% chance of an afternoon and overnight thundershower (or storm) right into the weekend.  our days will be mostly filled with sunshine and warmth, but don't be surprised by a thundery interruption.

speaking of warmth... the highest temp i've recorded this season was 83.4F (28.6C), which occurred last wednesday (4 may).  i think it's very likely that we'll top that tomorrow, and perhaps for the following couple of days as well...

MONDAY NIGHT: partly cloudy skies... a late night thundershower moving through.  mild.
low: 19C (66F)

TUESDAY: partly to mostly sunny skies.  a little better chance of a PM thundershower.  warmest day of the year..?
high: 29C (84F)

WEDNESDAY: partly to mostly sunny and very warm.  an afternoon thunderstorm possible.
high: 29C (85F)

THURSDAY: still a risk of a thunderstorm, mainly in the PM, otherwise partly cloudy.
high: 29C (84F)

FRIDAY: mostly sunny with just a slight chance of a thundershower.
high: 29C (84F)

SATURDAY: sunny to partly cloudy... continued very warm.  a PM thundershower possible.
high: 29C (84F)
