clouds vs. sun... (pm.28.may.11)>

it's mostly cloudy about an hour before sunset this evening.  the clouds outperformed the sun for most of the daylight hours today, although we did get enough sunshine to bump the high temp up to 78.1F (25.6C)... which was still a couple of degrees cooler than expected.  despite the occasionally ugly clouds over the mountains this afternoon, there has been no rainfall.

it looks like we're getting into a "roll the dice" weather pattern for the next two or three days, with regard to thunderstorm potential.  the atmosphere is just marginally unstable... but with gradual warming at the surface, and those pesky little pockets of cooler air aloft drifting through, an afternoon thundershower or two can't be ruled out through tuesday.  by wednesday and thursday, thunderstorm chances will be a bit higher... just in time for the arrival of a new month.

temperatures will continue to rise, and with the humidity edging upwards as well, we have a few rather stuffy and uncomfortable nights on the way during the coming week.  ahhhhh... summer.
