It is mostly cloudy early on this Sunday morning, but there are some breaks in the overcast. There's no fog right now, but humidity is running in the range of 90-95%. There has been no additional rainfall overnight, so our 24 hour rainfall total stands at only 0.03" (1mm) -- and I've recorded rather warm low temperature of 69.4F (20.8C).
Although we received more than an inch of rain on both Wednesday and Friday, there have been plenty of sunny periods during the days and stars at night during this past week. The intrusion of more sustained, deep, tropical moisture that has been advertised for this weekend has yet to materialize, and every time I look at the new data (which comes out twice a day), it seems that the moisture keeps being delayed and pushed back by another 12-24 hours. We are definitely going to see some periods of healthy showers and thundershowers off and on, as has been the case since the 3rd of July, but I am getting skeptical about reaching the saturation point (100% humidity) for an extended period of time. During a normal monsoon season, we often get several days in a row of continuous cloudiness and fog... but it is clear that so far, this is NOT a normal monsoon season.
If I were to believe the computer models, we're still going to get there during the coming several days... but for now, I'm going to expect sunny breaks and limited fog, until I see otherwise...
