The sky is mostly clear just before the sun peeks over the Dhauladars early on this Monday morning. There were some thundershowers roaming the area last night between about 9:00pm and midnight, and I picked up an additional 0.09" (2mm) of rain here in on Tushita Road just below the mountaineering center. That makes a Sunday total of 0.78" (2cm) at my location. My overnight low temp has been 66.4F (19.1C).
We're still lacking the deep moisture in the middle and upper-levels of the atmosphere necessary for full, long-term saturation to occur -- and that will allow us to experience a few sunny periods from time to time, especially during the first part of the week. Occasional rain and thunder are likely as well, so it's a good idea to keep the rain gear within reach, even if things look quiet and calm. There is plenty of low-level tropical moisture lurking, so bursts of moderate to heavy rainfall can occur suddenly from rapidly developing thundershowers. Computer models are in disagreement over rainfall amounts during the next 2-3 days, but I think we'll continue to average out around 1"+, thanks to the mountain thunder machine factor.
One of the greatest things about monsoon season is the milder temperatures. We've now been below 80F (27C) for six days straight -- and even with the help of some sunshine, the very moist air should keep us in the comfort zone right through the coming week.
