Skies are partly cloudy as the sun peeks over the Dhauladars early on this Sunday morning -- it's another morning that looks very little like monsoon season normally looks. We did have some thundershowers in the area last night between about 7:30pm and 10:00pm which dumped 0.45" (1.1cm) of rain at my location on Tushita Road just below the mountaineering center. There are no real changes to report, in terms of the general weather pattern in place across northern India. We should continue to see this rather unusual (for this time of year) variability between clouds, sunshine, short-lived fogginess, and occasional showers/thundershowers. There is no indication of deeper tropical moisture surging back in from the southeast during the next few days -- so we'll continue to escape being totally immersed in thick clouds and fog for a while longer. But of course be prepared for sudden bursts of moderate to heavy rainfall, which we've seen during both night and day since the 3rd of the month.
Temperatures will remain fairly steady and comfortable... which is one of the positive features of monsoon season... although it will feel quite muggy/humid when we get a couple of hours of sunshine.
