We have a high overcast sky across the area this evening with haze, but no significant fog at the moment. It's been another day of variability... sunshine this morning gave way to rapidly increasing clouds by late morning, but not before the thermometer was able to climb all the way to 79.0F (26.1C). Then, there was a period of healthy showers and some thunder between about 1:00pm and 3:00pm, which amounted to 0.52" (1.3cm) in my rain gauge.
Winds in the upper atmosphere are close to dead calm right now, while a southeasterly flow in the lower levels begins to transport another surge of deeper tropical moisture into our area for the latter half of the week. Normally by this date, we're experiencing many hours of saturated conditions and fog everyday -- but this year things continue to run a bit behind schedule. We've now had significant rainfall each and every day of the past eight, but our periods of 100% humidity and subsequent fog have only been occasional thus far. It looks like that may change as the week wears on, but honestly, the weather charts are not indicating anything more than moderate monsoon conditions over the course of the next several days.
Continue to be prepared for sudden moderate to heavy downpours of rain which could occur at any time of the day or night -- but also expect at least some fleeting glimpses of sunshine and brighter, drier weather in the midst of it all.
