Monday's stats:
Low temp: 63.3F (17.4C)
High temp: 77.2F (25.1C)
Rainfall: 0.02" (less than 1mm)
Our evening is looking great, with partly cloudy skies and very pleasant temperatures as the sun goes down. Today has been significant in two ways -- (1) It was the first time this month that there has been measurable (just barely) rainfall here in McLeod proper, and (2) The high temperature was the coolest since the first day of the month. Once again we had the expected mash-up of hazy sunshine and clouds, but we finally did get those light showers -- mainly during the noon hour, but there were a couple of sprinkles toward the early evening as well. When it comes to rainfall around here recently, beggars can't be choosers.
Our transitional period is in progress, and it looks like we'll have to brace ourselves for a good chance of a few periods of showers and thundershowers all the way into Thursday. This is due to an approaching upper-level disturbance now located over the middle of Afghanistan which is going to drag a pool of cooler air in the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere across northern India during the coming two or three days. We also have a more moisture-laden air mass poised just to our west-southwest that will provide some fuel. I'm still not extremely impressed with the kinds of precipitation amounts being suggested by all of the available computer model data... but I think it's not out of the question for us to end up with between one-half and one inch (1.3-2.5cm) of rain by the time Thursday afternoon rolls around. Temperatures will be cooler, and thus more pleasant, until Friday or Saturday.
A stabilizing atmosphere is expected by Friday, with the next summertime warm-up kicking in over the weekend into early next week. We're now approaching the warmest time of the year (on average) -- mid-May until mid-June -- so when it cools down a bit, it doesn't stay there for very long.
