Definitely more sunshine than clouds in this hour before sunset this Friday evening. The hazy sun this morning gave way to some building cumulus clouds over the mountains, but as far as I am aware, there was no thunder... nor any rain at all. My high temp just below the mountaineering center on Tushita Road was 86.5F (30.3C) -- the third day in a row above 30C.
IPL cricket weeks are typically the peak of the peak of the influx of tourists for the entire year, and if you've tried to navigate your way through McLeod Ganj today, you know what I'm talking about. Since it's very hot just down the hill, it seems that literally thousands of people have headed upward to get a little heat relief. No, it isn't as hot up here at 6000ft/1800m, but we're continuing to experience the warmest weather of the month, the season and the year. From all the data I am seeing, it looks like our temperatures will remain above average right through the forecast period.
Minor upper-level disturbances and associated pools of colder air aloft will also continue to drift across northern India during the next several days. That means despite the hazy sunshine and summery temps, we stand a chance of getting hit with a passing shower or thunderstorm on just about any given afternoon and/or evening, with the best chances on Sunday and Monday. Keep that in mind!
