It is partly to mostly cloudy from my vantage point this evening... with scattered thunderstorms visible in all directions except to the south. There has been no rainfall today in McLeod Ganj -- at least at the time of this posting. Sunshine and clouds did their switching and swapping again today, with the healthy doses of sunshine allowing the high temp to reach 82.6F (28.1C). This is the fifth day in a row I've recorded a high in excess of 80F!
-------
**UPDATE @ 7:15pm... a thunderstorms has exploded south-southwest of us during the last 40 minutes... moving to the northeast.
*8:01pm... breezy with some occasional thunder, but thus far, not even a drop of rain here in the upper part of town.
*8:29pm... now getting some big, fat, juicy raindrops here... with frequent lightning all around.
*9.35pm... quiet now. just a trace of rainfall, in spite of all the lightning. there could still be more development overnight...
-------
Some colder air in the upper-atmosphere is arriving this evening, in association with the first in a series of upper-level disturbances that are scheduled to affect northern India during the coming several days. With each successive run of the computer models, these disturbances are looking less impressive -- but we'll need to be on guard for the occasional period of showers and thunderstorms nonetheless. Although we haven't had one drop of rain for the last three days, I think we've all gotten used to the dramatic swings between sunshine and thundershowers since last month -- so just keep your eyes open and be prepared.
The average high temp for this stage of the month of May is close to 81F (27.2C). I think we may dip below that at least a couple of days during the next five... but all in all it should remain comfortable for early summer at 1800m/6000ft...
