Hazy sunshine is the rule early this morning... with some very thin, high clouds drifting in from the west as well. There has been just a trace of rainfall during the past 24 hours, and I'm recording an overnight low temp of 69.6F (20.9C).
So far this May, I've recorded high temps above 80F (26.7C) on 11 of 17 days -- 3 of those days reaching or exceeding 86F (30C). Rainfall here at my reporting spot in the upper part of town has been just 0.71" (1.8cm) for the month -- measurable rain occurring on only 6 of 17 days. So, it seems we have turned a major corner after the unusually wet weather we experienced during the last two-thirds of April.
Nothing is changing with regard to our overall weather pattern. A dry, summertime air mass is firmly established in the lower levels of the atmosphere, while we continue to see a west-to-east flow aloft that is carrying occasional weak disturbances across northern India. Those upper-level circulations also contain little pockets of much colder air, which have been responsible for the moderate instability, build-up of clouds, and random light showers/thunder we've seen on a few afternoons recently. Expect this same scenario to continue into the weekend and early next week, providing us with warmth and hazy sunshine, but also keeping a mentionable risk of a (mainly) PM thundershower in the forecast most days.
There is no sign of a significant downward turn in temperatures... so we'll remain in the range of the warmest weather of the season, and of the year thus far...
