Our skies have become mostly cloudy this evening, thanks to an area of thundershowers which have developed near and just west of Pathankot. Today's mix of sunshine and occasional clouds allowed our high temp to reach 86.0F (30.0C) -- the fifth day in a row we have reached or exceeded 86F/30C. There has been no rainfall today as of the time of this posting.
It's looking like we could see a more active weather scenario during the coming 36-48 hours or so, thanks to a moderately potent upper-level disturbance which is now beginning to slide into northern India. Its main feature is colder air aloft, which will be in conflict with this very warm air in the middle and lower levels of the atmosphere. The result will be some scattered shower and thunderstorm action between now and Tuesday afternoon, although the lack of deep moisture available should restrict our rainfall totals to generally less than 1cm/0.4", if that. Of course keep an eye on the sky if you have plans to be venturing into the mountains during the next couple of days.
Thereafter, a ridge of high pressure should rapidly re-develop in the upper atmosphere, killing the decent probability of any rainfall for the remainder of the week. If we do end up getting some rain, then temperatures will temporarily drop... but right now it appears that we're in line for a robust warming trend once again, starting on Wednesday...
