Yet another day with multiple-personality disorder. We now have mostly sunny skies during the hour before sunset, after alternating periods of clouds and sun and showers and thunder which have been going on all day long. My high temperature on Tushita Road at the top of McLeod Ganj was only 71.8F (22.1C), but I'm sure there was a lot of variability today, depending on elevation and whether or not you got hit with the rain. My rainfall amounted to 0.15" (4mm), most of which fell between 1:00 and 1:45pm.
I'll readily admit it has been beyond challenging to keep on top of the changes taking place in the atmosphere as this broad and deep summer-time air mass surges northward and encounters the outer Himalayan ranges. So far, it has been disappointing that we haven't been able to partake of significantly warmer weather here at our elevation, but as this messy transition keeps moving forward, that should change. I'm tenaciously holding on to the 80F/27C+ temps for the coming week!
Micro-scale battles due to differing temperatures in different levels of the atmosphere will keep us flirting with occasional showers and thunderstorms during the next several days, but as we've grown accustomed to, there will also be warm/balmy periods of sunshine in the midst of the action as well. Welcome to early summer in Himalayan north India...
