obstacles... (am.06.may.12)>

High cloudiness covers most of the area at sunrise on this Sunday morning.  I recorded a low temp of 61.5F (16.4C) -- and although we've had no additional rainfall overnight, the 24 hour total stands at 0.20" (5mm), thanks to thundershowers yesterday afternoon.

The local mountain-effect has not been positive with regard to the arrival of warmer air in all levels of the atmosphere during the past 24 hours or so, and the computer models have been completely out to lunch.  So far, most of the energy associated with this warming has been translating into the development of clouds and random thundershowers, which has restricted our sunshine and prevented temperatures here at the surface from warming as much as expected.  The weather pattern transition isn't complete yet, however, so it's going to be interesting to see if there will be enough sunshine to allow us to enjoy the benefits of this arriving summertime air mass.

It looks like the next several days will be characterized by alternating periods of clouds and sun, a roller-coaster temperature ride, and the occasional development of thundershowers. More of the back and forth between t-shirts and light jackets!!  As one of my long-time local friends here always says... "There is no fixed weather in McLeod Ganj!".
