A day of back-and-forth clouds and sun is coming to an end. It was generally overcast until just before noon, then we had a nice period of sunshine until the clouds took over again just after 2:00pm -- with sunshine appearing again around 5:00pm, and continuing now as we approach sunset. The cloudy periods held temperatures down a bit, but I still recorded a high of 81.5F (27.5C) in the upper part of town. Rainfall has been zero for the last two days.
As I mentioned this morning, we're anticipating a shift in the overall weather pattern as we head toward the weekend. A series of upper-level disturbances will be moving through northern India, bringing progressively colder air aloft, which is going to destabilize the air mass and increase the chance of occasional showers and thunderstorms. There is nothing immediately threatening, but be aware of the potential for sudden/rapid thunderstorm development anytime from later tonight through Saturday. Even during the early part of next week things will remain unstable enough for mainly afternoon and evening thundershowers.
This time of year it is still easy to get several hours of sunshine in between roaming thundershowers... in fact, it's the warming of the sun that fuels new shower/storm development... so temperatures will be comfortably warm when the sun does appear. Both high and low temps may drop a couple of degrees below normal over the course of the next several days, however.
