Our Wednesday is ending exactly as it began, with 100% sunny skies. From the late morning into the afternoon there were some scattered cumulus clouds over the mountains, but there was never any development that looked threatening in the least. My high temp in the upper part of town was 85.5F (29.7C), and the humidity remained very low all day.
It looks like we have a good chance of achieving the warmest temperatures in a couple of years during the coming few days. A general area of hot and dry high pressure is establishing itself from Pakistan into northern India, which should provide us with quite a lot of sunshine and warming temps. There will be a weak upper-level disturbance moving quickly across the area on Saturday, but then this high pressure ridge is expected to build back in -- stronger than ever -- for next week. As I look back over my records, it's clear that the last week of May into the first week of June average out to be the warmest of the entire year here in the McLeod area... so things look to be on track.
The only decent chance of any rainfall will be on Saturday, when we could see a round of thunderstorms sweep through at some point. But the way the moisture profiles are looking, significant rainfall isn't likely.
