weekend issues... (am.21.apr.12)>

We have a mostly cloudy sky at sunrise on this Saturday morning... after a rather active night.  I first heard thunder at around 1:45am, and I am finding 0.31" (8mm) in the rain gauge this morning.  The showers have served to cool things down a bit -- my overnight low here on Tushita Road has been 58.3F (14.6C).

Our weather scenario and weekend forecast continues to be interesting.  There is an upper-level disturbance located in central Pakistan this morning, with the circulation ahead of it bringing us a steady flow of air from the south, all the way into the mid- and upper-levels of the atmosphere.  As this system moves steadily toward northern India during the coming 24 hours, we'll be in a prime position to pick up a few more showers and thunderstorms.  A pool of colder air aloft will keep things on the unstable side right into the first few days of next week, meaning it will be difficult to get rid of the risk of random showers and/or thundershowers (we've gotten used to that...).  We should get some sunshine in the midst of it all, however.

Yesterday's high temperature of 80.4F (26.9C) was the warmest of 2012... but we'll be a few degrees cooler than that both today and Sunday.  It does look like things will be rapidly warming up again during the first half of the coming week...
