active week ahead... (pm.08.apr.12)>

It is partly cloudy this evening, but we have had a few sprinkles and brief light showers in the immediate McLeod Ganj area during the past hour or so.  There was also some frequent thunder coming from further up the mountain during the 1:00-2:30pm range.  The rainfall was not enough to measure at my house at the top of town... but just enough to wet the ground.  I recorded a pleasantly warm high temp of 76.8F (24.9C) during the sunshine which dominated until the early afternoon.

The mountain-born thundershowers are fizzling fast as we approach sunset, which should lead us into a quiet night.  But there are significant changes on the way during the coming 24-48 hours or so.  A rather potent upper-level disturbance is now developing in the vicinity of northern Afghanistan, and will be sliding east-southeastward into our neighborhood this week.  It will be a slow-mover, which means once it begins to affect us -- possibly by tomorrow afternoon -- it will be in no hurry to leave.  The most unstable period looks to be Tuesday into Wednesday night, when we could see some significant thunderstorms in the area.  Definitely be prepared if you have plans to be hiking, trekking, climbing or camping out!!

We'll have spells of cooler air during thunderstorms, but otherwise, our air mass should remain quite warm for the first half of April.  Stay tuned for updates during this potentially active week...
