Our Monday is ending as it began... with partly cloudy skies. In between, we've seen a couple of dramatic swings between sunshine and clouds, with even a very light shower which occurred between 12:30 and 1:00pm. On Tushita Road just below the Mountaineering Center, I recorded a high temp of 69.4F (20.8C), with just a trace of rainfall.
Unfortunately, we're still dealing with a great deal of variety and uncertainty with regard to the weather scenario during the coming several days. There are major shifts occurring in all levels of the atmosphere, as a summertime air mass to our south competes with some cooler air hanging over the mountains. This is going to keep the risk of a period or two of showers and/or thundershowers in the forecast... in the midst of nice stretches of sunshine and quiet. As we progress through the week, it does look like warmer air will win the battle... with temperatures expected to rise above mid-April norms once again.
By the weekend, a large-scale upper-level disturbance will ease into north India from the west... which should give us an even better chance of significant rainfall. After starting out dry and warm, this April has turned unusually volatile! Keep an eye here as we track developments...
