Totally clear skies are a wonderful sight just before sunrise on this Sunday morning. For the second morning in a row, we have an unseasonably cool 50.0F (10.0C) for the overnight low temp. The thundershowers last night gave us 1.10" (2.8cm) of rain between 5:30pm and midnight... which brings us up to 2.12" (5.4cm) since late Friday night... and 3.55" (9.0cm) since Tuesday. What an incredibly wet April week it has been! We've far surpassed the normal amount of rainfall for the entire month.
Things are certainly looking brighter and more promising this morning, but the question is... will we see yet another round of thundershowers develop this afternoon? There is still a pocket of very cold air aloft, and surface heating by the strong late morning/early afternoon sunshine may generate enough instability to set things rolling again. Otherwise, it does look like the overall weather pattern is going to calm down, at least for a few days, which should allow for more sunshine, and a lower chance of significant rainfall.
In terms of temperatures... we are running well below normal for mid-April, but all signs are pointing toward a healthy warming trend kicking in during the early part of the new week. It's likely that we'll be back into the normal range by Wednesday. Unfortunately, there is yet another weather system which could be a potential rain-maker heading our way for the latter part of the week.
