outdoorsville... (pm.10.oct.11)>

a nearly full moon is rising over the dhauladars as sunset approaches this evening.  skies are mostly clear, after a day featuring lots of sunshine, apart from a few hours of clouds (and even a rumble or two of thunder around 2pm) over the mountains.  the high temp reached 72.9F (22.7C), with humdity right around 55% for much of the day.

despite all the clouds and fog that hung around during the first 7-8 days of this month, i've only had 0.01" (less than 1mm) of rain up here just below the mountaineering center on tushita road.  and it looks like significant rainfall is going to be hard to come by for the next several days at least.  a very stable weather pattern will prevail until the end of the week, which should keep us in line for more sunshine.  by the weekend, there is going to be a rather dynamic upper-level disturbance swinging through here... but ironically, this time... the atmosphere should be nearly bone dry, which will make it hard to squeeze out much in the way of shower and thunderstorm action.  mostly, this disturbance will function as a transport system for more dry central asian air to flow into our neighborhood.

in case you haven't noticed, we are at the height of the pine pollen season... the yellow dust is everywhere, especially if you live in or near the forests above town.  unfortunately for allergy sufferers, there won't be much improvement for at least a week or so...
