the few clouds over the mountains today are rapidly disappearing, leaving us with almost totally clear skies as we approach sunset. it was a bit warmer than it's been in a few days... i recorded a high temp of 71.2F (21.8C) in the upper part of mcleod ganj. humidity fluctuated in the 48-58% range.
satellite pics this evening show that there have been a couple of isolated thundershowers in the higher elevations of northern and eastern himachal this afternoon, but by and large, it has been smooth sailing once again across north india and the western himalayan region. temperatures continue to run a bit above normal over a wide area, as we await a turn to slightly cooler air by the latter part of the week.
an increasingly active and disturbed flow in the upper atmosphere is set to develop in the next few days, which may lead to a better chance of a few showers in our neighborhood. how quickly the tide can turn... we've now had more than two weeks without measurable rainfall, so a nice shower would be welcome to settle the remaining pollen in the air, and contribute to our dwindling water supply. at the moment, nothing particularly exciting is expected, but stay tuned as we approach the weekend...
