it is partly cloudy this evening just before sunset. the humidity was a bit higher today (around 65%), and that contributed to the development of more cloudiness during the afternoon than we saw yesterday. still, there was enough sunshine to boost our mid-day high temp to 72.0F (22.2C). it was toasty warm in the sunshine, but chilly under the occasional clouds.
our mid- and upper-level winds are coming from the south today, in advance of a deep trough of low pressure in the upper atmosphere that will be pivoting through northern india as we approach the weekend. this system is trying hard to muster up some moisture to work with, as evidenced by our slightly higher humidity and increased cloud cover this afternoon. still... the limited available moisture will keep us from any significant rain and thunderstorm action. right now, i'd say we have about a 40-50% chance of getting a period of measurable rain (with thunder) sometime between friday and late saturday. stay tuned to see if we need to make an adjustment on that probability.
our humidity will drop another notch over the weekend, as nearly bone-dry central asian air pours into the western himalaya. temperatures will cool off slightly, but there is still no evidence of a dramatic turn to significantly colder mid-autumn weather...
