changes afoot... (pm.7.oct.11)>

a fine evening in progress, for a change.  we have partly cloudy skies just a few minutes prior to sunset, after a period of late afternoon thunder that failed to deliver any rain.  today's high temp was a comfortable 70.2F (21.2C) during the noon hour.

scattered thunderstorms have occurred all along the mountains from kashmir through himachal into uttarakhand late this afternoon and evening, but we were able to miss out on most of the action.  our approaching upper level disturbance is now moving from pakistan into kashmir, and will weaken and flatten out as it passes through northern india over the weekend.  keep in mind that we could get hit with a period of showers and/or thunderstorms anytime, but there will be more dry hours than wet ones between now and sunday.

late this morning, my outdoor humidity reading dropped to 54%, which is the lowest i've seen during this post-monsoon period.  it is now looking more and more likely that the low-level moisture clinging to our hills since the monsoon's departure will be significantly diminishing, allowing a greater and greater percentage of sunshine  as we get into the new week.  not a certainty just yet, but confidence is on the rise...
