this morning's low temp: 58.8F (14.9C)
this afternoon's high temp: 69.4F (20.8C)
humidity: 50-63%
precipitation: zero
yet another picture-perfect evening in progress, with the setting sun briefly turning the mountains surreal shades of orange and pink. there have been scattered cumulus clouds today, mainly in the vicinity of the mountains, but the sunshine has again been our dominant weather feature.
this is the time of year when you can see people in t-shirts and shorts walking along the street next to others in fleeces, scarves and light jackets. in this temperature range, there seems to be a lot of subjectivity as to the definitions of "warm", "cool", "pleasant", and "comfortable".! suffice it to say, we are enjoying the time of year when it is definitely not too hot, nor is it too cold. that's why MILD might be the best description.
we'll be basically on autopilot for a few days, it appears, with generally the same pattern of sunshine with a few patches and/or periods of clouds from time to time, mainly along the mountains. the atmosphere, at all levels, is gradually cooling, but there is very little moisture available, and no significant storm systems in sight, so things should remain rather calm and quiet.
computer models are increasing the potential for some shower activity by thursday with the approach of the next upper-level disturbance, so that is one thing to keep an eye on...
