Wednesday's stats:
Low temp: 62.2F (16.8C)
High temp: 68.4F (20.2C)
Rainfall: 0.93" (2.4cm)
A nice evening is in progress -- with the sun visible as it sinks toward the western horizon, and only a few scattered clouds around the area. The main event of the day was a period of rather heavy rain between about 12:15pm and 2:00pm which brought nearly an inch to my rain gauge in the upper part of town. Both before and after, we've had a mix of clouds and sun, but humidity which never dropped below about 80%. RIght now there are some isolated thundershowers across Himachal showing up on satellite pics, but nothing threatening us.
As I mentioned this morning, we are in the midst of the latest (and one of the last) surges of monsoon conditions which should last for another 24-36 hours or so. It looks like there will be a good chance of some significant rainfall totals on Thursday into Friday, which will continue to add to a September rainfall total which is running well ahead of normal thus far.
By late Friday there should be some changes. There is going to be a pretty remarkable drying trend throughout all layers of the atmosphere over the weekend into early next week. In fact, the weather charts are looking very post-monsoonish. The problem is, we've now arrived at the time of the season when we can get teased with some very major clearing trends, only to be hit again after a respite of a few days. Anyway, there will likely still be some thundershowers roaming the front slopes of the mountains from Saturday into Monday/Tuesday of next week -- but there should also be some very nice periods of sun, and perhaps humidity dipping lower than we've seen since the very beginning of June.
