Thursday's stats:
Low temp: 57.9F (14.4C) -- around 12:30pm
High temp: 69.1F (20.6C)
Rainfall: 2.56" (6.5cm) -- updated at 8pm
It's a beautiful evening with the sun peeking through the clouds as it heads toward the western horizon. There were some light showers in the area just a few minutes ago, but they seem to have ended for the moment. This morning's blog post was entitled "tastes of everything", and that's indeed what we've experienced today. We had a few hours of solid sunshine this morning, but by 11:00am the clouds and fog were rapidly thickening up, which led to a very heavy and intense period of rain which dominated the hours from noon until about 2:00pm. I recorded 2.50" (6.4cm) in the upper part of town -- a very impressive total for such a short period of time.
Temperatures plummeted during the peak of the downpour -- my low temp of 57.9F (14.4C) was the coolest since way back at the very beginning of the monsoon season. It looks like there could even have been a dusting of snow up on the highest peaks of the Dhauladhars.
The total rainfall for September more than doubled today, and it looks like we are in a favorable position to continue receiving some appreciable rainfall amounts as we head through the weekend. Computer models are advertising healthy daily rainfall rates through Sunday, then starting to back off a bit by Monday and Tuesday. It could be that our periods of sunshine and lower humidity during the morning hours will diminish during the coming three or four days, but I don't expect the clouds, fog and rain to completely take over. Best to remain in the mode of being prepared for just about anything during the coming several days...
