Today's plot twist centered around a couple of hours of very heavy rainfall during the early morning hours. The heaviest rain fell between roughly 6:30 and 8:30am at my location in the upper part of town, and was accompanied by temperatures which equaled the coolest of the season. Although we've had a few brief, light showers, there hasn't been a whole lot going on since the morning deluge.
As you can see from the above September rainfall stats, it's been quite wet this month so far, and especially wet during the past four days. Upper level winds swinging around to the east and southeast could favor some lower rainfall rates during the coming week, but occasional downpours are going to remain likely. We should still get some sunny breaks with a few hours of lower humidity in the midst of it all... and that's what will cause the ferns and mosses to continue yellowing. Positive signs, regardless of the resilience of the rain showers.
