It looks like we'll have a good amount of sun very shortly, as it peeks over the mountains. There are very few clouds at the moment -- the temperature is near 61F (16C), and humidity stands at 90%. I've recorded no additional rainfall overnight.
We're now well over half-way to the normal total rainfall for the month of September, and here at my location... a little less than 8 inches short of reaching 100 inches (254cm) for the entire monsoon season this year. It certainly looks like we'll be making a run for that 'century', as daily doses of moderate to heavy rain showers should continue for the next several days at least.
Atmospheric moisture profiles are showing the most pronounced drying in about three months should be occurring as we head into the coming weekend. At this point, I am skeptical about an actual withdrawal of monsoon conditions for us here along the front slopes of the mountains in Himachal, but it's a process, and we're moving into the stages that will eventually mark the end. Continue to expect periods of sun and lower humidity alternating with an influx of thicker clouds and fog, along with occasional downpours. Tropical air doing battle with drier central Asian air is going to remain the theme during the coming week or so.
