Tuesday's stats:
Low temp: 62.8F (17.1C)
High temp: 72.3F (22.4C)
Rainfall: 0.27" (7mm)
We're pretty much fogged in just before sunset this evening after yet another day of pendulum swings. The sunshine early this morning didn't last long -- it was totally cloudy and foggy before 10am, with a round of moderate rain showers and thunder between about 10:30 and 11:15am. That kinda sunk the theory that the shower development would be confined to the afternoon hours. Anyway, the sun broke out again around mid-day, and humidity fell to near 60% for an hour or so, making up for what was stolen from us during the morning. It has been cloudy and foggy again since late afternoon, but thus far, there have been only a few sprinkles of rain.
I'm amazed at the amount of drier air that has managed to work its way into the northern plains of India... from Punjab and Rajasthan, eastward to central Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, tropical moisture is holding tight along the mountains, and also across most of central and southern India. There could be a declaration of monsoon withdrawal for areas to our south and west during the next few days, but there's no chance of that for Himachal Pradesh. In fact, if anything, moisture will be on the increase for us, along with a better chance of some heavier rainfall as we head toward the end of the week.
I think it's been pretty obvious during the last several days that our sunny breaks could be sabotaged by fog and showers with hardly a moment's notice. That means we'll need to continue to hold loosely to our periods of nicer and brighter weather until some dramatically drier air shows up -- which doesn't look likely in the next ten days or more.
