I've got 52.5F (11.4C) just before sunrise this morning, but my thermometer is showing an overnight low temp of 46.9F (8.3C), which occurred just before 1:00am here in the upper part of town. Those are the coolest temps of this autumn season thus far!
There is 0.35" (0.9cm) in the rain gauge this morning as well, thanks to some very rambunctious thundershowers overnight, which were accompanied by very strong wind gusts... things didn't really settle down until about 5:30am. That is the largest amount of rain we've received this month.
It looks like the snow line is very close to Triund (9500-10,000ft) -- and with all the wind, I'm sure there are some people up there who had a very uncomfortable/miserable night.
The intense upper-level disturbance responsible for last night's drama is the final in a series of much weaker systems which have been tracking across northern India since about Friday. Cooler air has obviously been delivered in its wake, which will keep temps on the chilly side for the next couple of days. The pattern is looking rather calm and quiet, however, as we head into the weekend. There could even be a bit of a warming trend kicking in, especially by Sunday.
