Tuesday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 56.7F (13.7C)
Afternoon high temp: 66.0F (18.9C)
Rainfall: none
The last in a series of upper-level disturbances moving across northern India during the past 3-4 days is going to cruise through tonight. Just after sunset, we have a mix of mid- and high-level clouds increasing from the west, in association with a few clusters of showers and thundershowers which developed over northern Pakistan and western Kashmir this afternoon. We'll be watching carefully to see if some of that holds together long enough to affect us overnight. If so, there will probably be some snowfall as low as 10,000-12,000ft.
As the tail-end of this system clears out of here on Wednesday, we should be in line for a stretch of stable weather lasting through the coming weekend. Temperatures have already dropped a few degrees, but are expected to cool off even further during the next 48 hours or so -- giving us the lowest temps of this autumn season so far. The good news is that we should actually get a hint of a warming trend going perhaps as early as Saturday/Sunday.
*UPDATE @ 810pm... Clouds are thickening up, and there are even a few flashes of lightning. Satellite pics show some thundershowers remaining intact as they track eastward from northern Pakistan, in association with this final (and strongest) upper-level disturbance in our recent series...
*UPDATE @ 840pm... It's looking potentially ominous overnight, especially in the higher elevations. An intense upper-level disturbance will move across northern India, bringing a chance of showers/thundershowers, along with gusty winds and sharply colder temperatures. Some snow is likely above 11,000ft or so.
