Thursday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 59.4F (15.2C)
Afternoon high temp: 68.9F (14.9C)
Rainfall: none
In my opinion, today has been the nicest all-around day of the past two weeks. Temperatures have been on the mild side (for this time of year), sunshine was plentiful, and there was very little cloud development over the mountains. I counted seven paragliders enjoying the perfect afternoon near and just southeast of Triund.
It looks like we'll get another very nice day before some questionable weather conditions develop over the weekend. Computer models are inconsistent with regard to details, but one thing seems certain -- a complex series of upper-level disturbances will be dropping southeastward across northern India between late Friday night and early next week. A northwesterly flow like this is not going to feature a lot of moisture to work with, but there will still be more clouds, a better chance of scattered showers, some gusty winds at times, and temperatures which will be falling a few more degrees.
If you have plans to be trekking and camping out this weekend, please prepare for potential rainfall and sudden chilly temps. There will likely be some snowfall above 12,000ft or so between Saturday and Monday.
