Friday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 59.5F (15.3C)
Afternoon high temp: 70.0 (21.1C)
Rainfall: none
Today was the first day in exactly one week when there wasn't at least a clap of thunder during the afternoon. Clouds did develop over the mountains, and perhaps there was a brief thundershower up along the highest reaches of the Dhauladars, but the sunshine remained firmly in control down here in the immediate McLeod area. Humidity averaged in the 50-55% range -- an extremely nice day.
Despite the lack of thundershowers threatening today (Fri), the overall weather pattern remains virtually unchanged. We still have weak ripples of low pressure and cold pools aloft drifting through, and that will keep at least a 20-30% chance of random thundershowers in the forecast during the afternoons, right into early next week. The vast majority of our days and nights will be dry and calm and pleasant -- just keep your eye out for sudden changes if you plan to be in the mountains, away from shelter.
There is definitely a hint of a chill in the air, especially from evening into the early morning hours, but temperatures continue to run just a few degrees above normal for mid-October. We'll have to wait for a good round of thundershowers or a strong cold front moving in from central Asia to break us out of this relatively mild period.
