Sunday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 59.5F (15.3C)
Daytime high temp: 69.3F (20.7C)
Rainfall: trace
The humidity at my place on Tushita Road just below the mountaineering center has been creeping upward since last night. In fact, I've been recording 65-72% on average, which is quite high for this time of year. That moisture in the air contributed to a more rapid development of clouds today than we've had during the past few days, and kept temperatures a bit cooler. There were some isolated thundershowers roaming the mountains of Himachal Pradesh this afternoon, but as far as I am aware, there wasn't much in the way of significant rainfall -- at least not here at our elevation.
The weather pattern is not exactly dead calm, thanks to a weak area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere which as become established over the western Himalayan region. It is becoming progressively colder aloft, which is giving us a bit of instability to deal with, primarily during the afternoon/early evening hours after the sun has a chance to heat up the lower levels. Looking at the computer model output for the coming week, it appears that this scenario will continue... which will keep us dealing with a risk of some mainly PM thundershower development. The closer to the mountains/higher up you are, the better chance you have of getting some action.
Temperatures are near or slightly below average for this time of year -- and should remain fairly consistent during the coming several days. Of course sunshine makes all the difference, so the timing of mid-day cloud development will greatly determine high/max temps for any given day.
