Friday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 58.8F (14.9C)
Afternoon high temp: 68.4F (20.2C)
Rainfall: none
It's been yet another near-perfect mid-October day -- with lots of sunshine and temperatures still running a bit warmer than they should be. We're now on nine days in a row without any measurable rainfall.
There were a few high, thin cirrus clouds drifting across the area today. That's the first indication and precursor of the next weather system which will be affecting us over the weekend into early next week. A rather complex series of upper-level disturbances will organize and drop in from the west-northwest starting tomorrow (Saturday), increasing cloudiness and also increasing our chance of some widely scattered showers or thundershowers. At this point, I'm not at all impressed with the potential for significant rainfall, but be advised that a shower or two is not out of the question between Saturday and Monday. This system is going to usher in a shot of colder air as well, so there's a decent chance of some snowfall on the mountains above roughly 11-12,000ft.
Things should settle down again by Tuesday/Wednesday of next week, leaving us with dry and quiet weather, but progressively cooler temperatures.
