Wednesday's stats:
Low temp (during thundershower): 59.5F (15.3C)
High temp (around noon): 71.6F (22.0C)
Rainfall: 0.08" (2mm)
Thundershower development was more pronounced here in our neighborhood along the Dhauladars this afternoon. There was occasional thunder between about 1:00 and 4:00pm, with a brief period of showers and gusty winds right around 3:00pm -- but it looked even more ominous uphill from here for a while during the mid-afternoon. Things have cleared out nicely this evening, though.
A general trough of low pressure in the upper atmosphere remains anchored over the western Himalayan region, and that's the culprit for the instability we keep experiencing each afternoon. Sun-warmed air at the surface has been rising into colder air aloft, creating lots of clouds over the mountains, along with isolated thundershowers for a couple of hours. There is no strong indication that this pattern is going to change any time soon... so remain prepared for plenty of morning sun, followed by the potential for some thundershower-dodging in the PM.
Temperatures have been very uniform, both night and day, since the weekend. This set-up is also expected to remain unchanged for the next several days at least, keeping us just a bit above normal as we head into the middle of October.
