rather ambiguous weather conditions around these parts. we had a beautiful sunny and warm morning... followed by a thundery and rainy and cool afternoon and evening. the high temp around noontime was 27c/81f, and the official rainfall total between 2 and 6pm was 0.65" (17mm). today i noticed thick moss forming on many tree trunks, and moss and mold developing on sidewalks and roads way up here at the top of mcleod ganj. so... although we are still not getting our "official" monsoon onset (yet), things are definitely progressing in that direction.
the monsoon is here when the ground meets the sky...meaning, when we find ourselves living in a cloud. that foggy, 100% humidity stuff has still not materialized, and the chai-drinking, chain-smoking and card-playing weathermen down at the india meteorological department have refused to acknowledge any sort of northward advance of the monsoon for the past 11 days or so. the best thing for us to do is just brace ourselves for stickier, muggier weather, along with periods of heavy showers and storms which will increase in number and intensity during the next several days.
