we've managed to pull off an absolutely beautiful saturday thus far... 100% sunshine into mid-morning, lots of clouds over the mountains during the afternoon, but only a few rumbles of thunder. the high temp at the weathergeek office was 27c/80f, but it has been rather humid. the satellite pic shows thunderstorms TRYING to develop all along the front ranges of the himalayas... from kashmir to nepal, but so far very few of them are really busting loose. the view from space also shows deep monsoon moisture fueling big thunderstorms into central uttar pradesh... which is an indication that the monsoon is indeed beginning to push further into northern india. it is likely that we won't get by with a dry sunday... and as we move through the first half of next week, humidity will be on the increase, and monsoon rains will become more and more of a good bet. as of today, the india meteorological department is forecasting a delhi arrival of the monsoon within 4 days or so... since our onset is typically a couple of days earlier than delhi's, that means we don't have much longer to wait.
