thursday morning>

skies are mostly clear just before sunrise on this thursday morning with a cool temp of 17c/62f. we picked up about 1/3 inch (8mm) of rain yesterday afternoon and evening... and we could still see a bit more shower and thunderstorm action later today, associated with the last gasp of our recent upper-level disturbance. then... get ready for a MAJOR warm-up as we head into the weekend. computer models are very aggressive with building in a very strong area of high pressure in the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere, which will produce some of the warmest air of the summer season. it will also put a "cap" on thunderstorm development for two or three days. this means the northward advance of the monsoon will be held off for several more days at least, as we enjoy (what could be) summer's last big hurrah...
