the satellite pic this morning shows some patches of cloudiness across pakistan and northern india, drifting slowly to the east. these clouds are associated with a weak upper-level disturbance... one of many that will move through the area during the next several days. as the heat builds during the afternoons and evenings, we have to keep the mention of random showers and thunderstorms in the forecast... straight through early next week. this is a very typical pre-monsoon june pattern for us. go about your plans, but just be aware that conditions could turn sour for an hour or two on any given day... after about 3pm or so.
*monsoon watch** the northern limit of the monsoon has now reached mumbai. widespread thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are now pounding roughly the southern half of india. it still appears that the timing of the monsoon's northward advance is pretty close to normal this year.
