clear skies, quite humid, and 20.5c/69f early on this sunday morning. it has now been about 45 hours since we've had any rainfall, but our oasis of dry weather should be coming to an end relatively soon. the satellite photo this morning shows clear skies over kashmir, most of himachal pradesh and punjab, but scattered showers and thunderstorms are roaming across parts of rajasthan, haryana, the delhi NCR, and uttar pradesh. that is an indication that tropical moisture is surging northward again. as the sunshine works on our moist atmosphere this morning, we should see a build-up of clouds, with increasing thunderstorm chances into the afternoon.
the bottom line... don't get too attached to the sunshine this morning!> rain and thunderstorm chances will steadily increase into the middle of the week, with the likelihood of an official monsoon onset within the next few days. areas of fog will become more prevalent, along with periods of heavy rainfall.
